Over the past 18 years, Rabbi Samuel Ross has been teaching and inspiring communities in Berlin, Calgary, Vancouver and Manchester. Together with his wife Rebbetzen Gila they have created myriad programs for young families, teens and parents, hosting huge family Shabbat meals in their home.
Rabbi Samuel Ross’s background includes serving as Youth Director at Calgary Community Kollel, before moving to Vancouver to and developing outreach programs for high school students. His energetic, enthusiastic style has attracted many, many students, and was recognized as the NCSY’s “Best of the Best” in 2010.
In an interview whilst the Rosses were in Vancouver, International Director of NCSY, Rabbi Micah Greenland, when asked which chapter inspired him he said, “In particular, I’m blown away by the work being done in Vancouver. I find it so impressive the job that Rabbi Samuel and Gila Ross are doing to transform the lives of so many.”
A recent participant of Rabbi Rosses programing in Manchester shares their thoughts as well, “Never in all my years of learning have I seen the unbending dedication and ability to engage with any type of Jew, at whatever level. It’s exhausting and inspirational in equal measure. No doubt he will continue to push the boundaries of Jewish learning wherever he goes.”
Rabbi Ross presently acts as director of the family experience, and in the few months he and and his wife have been here they have already seen big crowds for events such as shabbat dinners, creative holiday programming, have created a popular families committee, and his weekly Wednesday night wisdom class is a highlight of the week!
Meanwhile his zoom class on Thursday continues where people from around the globe call in!
