Bernie had a complaint for everyone.
“My back hurts.” “My knees hurt.” “I can’t sleep.”
“The doctor doesn’t know what’s wrong.”
After months of listening to this, his wife finally dragged him to a specialist.
The specialist ordered every test imaginable.
Blood work. Scans. X-rays. Stress tests.
A week later, Bernie returned for the results.
The doctor sat him down and smiled.
“Bernie, I have excellent news. Every test came back perfect. You’re in remarkable health for your age.”
Bernie stared at him.
“That’s impossible.”
“No, really,” said the doctor. “Your heart is strong. Your lungs are excellent. Your blood pressure is great.”
Bernie shook his head.
“I don’t understand.”
“What’s not to understand?” asked the doctor. “You’re healthy.”
Bernie sat quietly for a moment.
Then he sighed.
“So now I have to worry about what they missed.”
